Birthdays

We celebrate birthdays at school through fun songs and creating a special “birthday book” for each child.  Also, summer birthdays are celebrated in June.  To promote a healthy learning environment, I encourage families to consider celebrating their child’s birthday at school in a manner other than a birthday snack.  Having a parent or family member read a story to the class would certainly be a very special occasion for the birthday child!  Also, a special family member could join your first grader for lunch on their birthday.  The birthday child may choose to bring in a fun class gift for all to enjoy, such as a board game, playdough, book, playground game, or art material.  If sending in birthday party invitations to go home, please be sure that all class members are included.  School policy prohibits the releases of addresses or telephone numbers without parent permission.  Our class’ Friendship List will include contact information from parents and will be distributed in early September.
